A stunning 1.5 acre ex-gravel pit situated in North Leicester. The lake is tree lined giving that old intimate English estate lake feel and ranges in depth from 3-13 feet.
Fishing at The Lane has been described as the ‘Ultimate Carp fishing experience’ compared to your average fishing lake. From the stunningly dark and scaley stamp of carp to the beautiful handpicked stocked fish, we tick all the boxes to build your photo album. Certain swims have featured margins to fish to, where others dominate an open water approach. It can test your angling, but the rewards are very special indeed.
Early in the year we get healthy weed growth in certain areas, and the lake remains ‘gin clear’ all year round. The fish are easily visible in the clear water and will show regularly, teasing you and building the height of anticipation.
Marking your spots to locate their feeding is important, however the advice given onsite is the best way to start as we watch the water week in, week out.
With the new addition of diffuser style aeration units, we can ensure that the oxygen levels in the lake are constant all year round.
Please note to manage expectation we record all known carp on our website, whilst not understocked the lake is by no means a ‘runs water’ so for this reason the lake is suited to experienced carp anglers only
Pontoon
Immediately in front of the swim there are depths of 12 foot shallowing up to around 8 foot closer to the island. There is a bay to the left with some nice depth variation which is a good holding area, and plenty of open water in front of you. The island boundary is 45 meters which is the longest cast on the lake.
Stock Pond
This peg has the deepest area of the lake just to the left as you look out from this swim at around 13 foot. Good summer spots are anywhere from the island boundary to the right hand marginal shelves.
Back Bay
Depths in the bay are around 8 -9 feet, deep enough that the carp can hold up in here in big numbers without being seen. Areas just to the left as you stand in the swim at the mouth of the bay is a good area to intercept anything moving in and out.
Short Range
Distance to the island here is just 28 meters and average depths of around 8 foot shallowing up to 3 foot on the left hand margin as you look out. By far the least pressured swim on the lake and probably the best. The prevailing westerly wind means that there are always fish in this area especially in the warmer months with many bites coming right off the rod tip in 5-6 foot of water.
